Description: |
Cosmic clouds form amazing shapes in the center of the emission nebula IC 1805. These clouds are formed by winds and radiation of high-mass and hot stars in the new born cluster of the nebula, aka Melotte 15. The stars of the cluser, aged about 1.5 million years, can be seen on the right and the top of this colourful sky scenery; together with dark clouds of dust which are silhouetted against the glowing atomic gas. This view comosed from narrow band data spans more that 25 light years and shows the emission of hydrogen and oxygen. Pictures taken with a larger field of view are revealing the incisive shape of IC 1805 which is explaining the common name: Heart Nebula. |
